Gas Appliance Hookups

Tiger provides professional connection, disconnection, replacement hookup, and related appliance-supply connection work for residential gas appliances. This service is limited to the hookup scope and does not imply repair of components inside the appliance.

Gas odor or suspected leak

Leave first. Call from a safe location.

Treat a natural-gas odor, blowing or hissing that may be escaping gas, or another suspected leak as an emergency—not as a hookup appointment.

  • Leave the building or area immediately. Take other people and pets with you and move away on foot.
  • Do not operate lights, switches, phones, garage doors, appliances, or vehicles in or near the suspected area. Do not search for the source.
  • From a safe location away from the property, call 911, then call your natural-gas utility. Follow their instructions and do not re-enter until emergency responders or the utility say it is safe.

Do not disconnect, reconnect, loosen, cap, test, or alter a suspected gas connection yourself. Contact Tiger only after the immediate emergency is handled and the property is cleared for service.

Connection work with a clear boundary

The hookup and the appliance are different service needs.

This page covers work at the gas supply connection serving an appliance. Broader gas-piping installation and repair belong to Gas Lines. A problem inside the appliance requires a separate, confirmed equipment-service path.

  1. Connect

An appliance is ready for a planned connection.

Share the appliance location, whether a gas supply connection is already present, and what is known about the planned installation. The service visit is where the connection conditions and appropriate next step can be assessed.

  2. Disconnect

An existing appliance needs to be disconnected.

A planned removal or project change can require professional disconnection at the appliance supply. Do not loosen, cap, test, or alter the connection yourself.

  3. Replace

A replacement appliance needs a new hookup.

Describe what is being replaced and whether the appliance location or supply arrangement is changing. A replacement hookup remains connection work; it does not imply repair of components inside the appliance.

Helpful when you call

Describe the planned connection.

You do not need to inspect or handle the connection. A few details about the project are enough to begin the conversation.

  • Whether the request is for connection, disconnection, or a replacement hookup
  • Where the appliance is located in the home
  • Whether a gas supply connection is already present at that location
  • Whether any suspected gas odor or leak has already been handled and cleared

A safety-first service path

Safety status. Project context. Onsite scope.

  1. Confirm there is no active gas emergency

A suspected leak must be handled first by leaving and calling 911 and the gas utility from a safe location. A hookup conversation begins only after the property is cleared.

  2. Describe the appliance-side project

For planned work, identify the appliance location and whether the need is connection, disconnection, or a replacement hookup.

  3. Assess the supply connection onsite

The existing conditions and project scope determine the useful next step. Do not expose piping or operate a valve to gather more information before the visit.

Planned gas-appliance hookup service

Call Tiger after immediate hazards are clear.

For a non-emergency connection, disconnection, or replacement-hookup conversation, share the appliance location and planned work. Never delay leaving or calling 911 and the utility to contact Tiger first.
