HVAC & Plumbing in Minnetonka, MN

Minnetonka is one of the towns where Tiger works the most. Most of those calls are for air conditioners, furnaces, and water heaters in older homes, along with everyday plumbing. Tiger repairs, replaces, and maintains them from our Eden Prairie office and answers emergency calls 24/7.

AC, furnaces, and water heaters

Most of Minnetonka's single-family homes went up between 1950 and 1970, many of them on large lots, and the 1980s added more housing than any other decade. Many of the homes Tiger works in are older and still have older equipment, and air conditioning is what Minnetonka homeowners search for most.

  • AC repair or replacement

When the air conditioner quits or can't keep up, Tiger finds the cause before recommending anything. If an older system needs a major repair, you see the repair and a replacement side by side, and the replacement estimate is free.

  • Furnace and AC together

In most forced-air homes the furnace blower also moves the air for the AC. When both are old, it is worth pricing them as a pair, or asking about a heat pump, before one of them fails in the wrong season.

  • Water heaters

Gas and electric tank water heaters and tankless heaters, repaired or replaced. A leaking tank is a reason to call right away.

Minnetonka permits

A failed furnace doesn't have to wait for a permit

Minnetonka requires a mechanical permit before new heating or cooling equipment goes in, and a plumbing permit to install or replace a water heater, water softener, or fixture.

The city makes room for emergencies: failed equipment can be replaced before the permit is issued, as long as the permit is applied for the next business day. The permit itself does not hold up replacing a furnace that fails over a winter weekend.

Where a permit is required, Tiger obtains it and schedules the required inspections.

Minnetonka water

City water and the city's rebate

Minnetonka's city water comes from 18 wells, 444 to 575 feet deep, in the Prairie du Chien–Jordan and Jordan aquifers, and is treated at eight city water treatment plants. The city's 2025 drinking water report does not list a hardness figure, so if you are sizing or setting a water softener, the city's water utility is the place to ask.

Replacing an old toilet? The City of Minnetonka runs a water efficiency rebate program for residents who replace an old toilet with a WaterSense-labeled model, along with some other fixtures and appliances. It runs until June 30, 2028 or until the money runs out. Check the city's page for current terms; Tiger can help with the installation but cannot promise a rebate.

Emergencies

Call any hour for heating, cooling, or plumbing

Tiger answers emergency calls 24/7, whether the AC quits in a heat wave, the furnace stops on a cold night, or a pipe or water heater starts leaking. Call 952-942-5748.

Smell natural gas?

Leave immediately on foot. Do not use switches, phones, vehicles, or anything else that could create a spark. From a safe location, call 911 and CenterPoint Energy or your gas utility. Do not try to find or repair the leak yourself.
